Venezuela’s Housing Mission Builds 80,000 More Homes in 60 Days
“This is popular power,” said President Nicolas Maduro during a visit to a newly built housing complex in the state of Miranda.
One of the Venezuelan government’s most popular social initiatives, the housing mission was first launched to provide shelter for people who lost their homes in devastating floods that hit the country in 2010. However, since then the mission has expanded to provide low-cost housing to the wider population, with poor families receiving priority. Units are generally provided fully furnished. The houses are offered either for free or at a low cost, depending on the means of the prospective owners.
In 2011, then-President Hugo Chavez explained that the mission would address the “social debt” left behind by former governments that failed to provide quality housing to all Venezuelans. The current Maduro administration has vowed to expand the mission, aiming to provide low-cost housing to 40 percent of Venezuelans by the end of the decade. “
Just to put this in perspective, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “progressive” 10 year “affordable” housing plan aims to build AND PRESERVE (implying that not all will be new) 200,000 “affordable” housing units. As far as new homes built in Venezuela goes, that number is about to hit the 1 MILLION mark……after FIVE years. Venezuela created about 184,000, this year ALONE. And while Venezuela created 80,000 new homes in the MONTH of November 2015, NYC created 6,200 new units….in the entire fucking YEAR of 2014.

ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS??
THE ECONOMY IS FALLING APART
THE PRICES ARE GOING CRAZY
INSECURITY IS ALL OVER THE PLACE
AND THEY SHOW EVERYTHING GOING ON AS SUCH A FANTASTIC THING??
THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE IN POVERTY STILL AND IDK HOW THE HELL THEY ARE APPERENTLY AFORDING ALL THAT NEW HOUSING BECAUSE AS FAR AS I KNOW VNZLA HAS THE HIGHEST INFLATION RATE AND EVERYONE IS STRUGGLING WITH MONEY. I had to leave because of all the shit going on. I have friends that can’t go to college due to protests from teachers. I have friends who got so many things stolen because the police doesn’t work for shit. Prices are regulated, and there aren’t even that much resources. They’re giving all that housing away to give a pretty view of everything internationally. DON’T LET THAT FOOL YOU VNZLA IS FALLING APART AND BARELY ANYONE KNOWS. IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY. SOCIALISM MY ASS.You are complete right. Cherry picking
i cannot believe i see this kind of shit here on tumblr lmaoo why are yall even here?? The creator of this site is from NY.. Doesn’t that make him an imperialistic yankee?? Why don’t y’all use a website created by the people and for the people??
And these “houses” are basically dumpsters. While Maduro and all the other enchufados feed off the civilians money, eat well, travel, and own several luxurious houses, cars, yachts, and planes all over the world; the rest of the country is making 6 hour long lines to buy basic necessities. Items such as eggs, milk, chicken, flour, sugar, butter, toilet paper (the list goes on and on) are basically impossible to find and/or even afford.
Medicine of any kind is also nearly impossible to find, as well as condoms and birth control pills. This is not on accident, they want the poor to reproduce so they can keep giving them the scraps of all of their riches they stole, and have them vote for this dictatorial regimen over and over again.
So yeah, you clearly don’t know the situation my country is in so I would appreciate it if you got well informed before doing these type of posts that completely leave out the reality of what’s happening in Venezuela.
i am honestly too exhausted to go into everything that is wrong with the venezuelan government right now. let me just remind my followers that the government is responsible for the deaths of thousands of my people, and has done nothing but make the country poorer on purpose so that they can keep the majority of the population undereducated and under their control, as well as to continue their hate-based campaigns. what @sweetdrain and @theoandwilhelm said is true.
i am extremely disappointed that blogs that i have loved and followed for months have reblogged this from the original source, who is completely out of touch with venezuelan reality. people on tumblr need to learn to discriminate between what politicians actually do and what they want you to think. politics are not black and white, and western models do not apply to all countries. it is not because a government claims to be socialist and says “fuck the US” at every opportunity that you should praise them. spreading misinformation like this allows the international community to ignore human rights violations by authoritarian regimes.
before posting or reblogging things in favour of the venezuelan government, you should inform yourself as to what they have actually done in the past seventeen years. actions such as the “housing initiative” are covers for the corruption, violence, and terror that undoes any good they pretend to have done. i am tired of seeing those responsible for the suffering of my country be praised by those who are ignorant enough to believe their speeches.
While we’re at it, reminder of some numbers. Houses built by past governments without high oil prices:
Luis Herrera Campins: (1979-1983)
391.893 houses.Jaime Lusinchi: (1984-1988)
367.739 housesCarlos Andrés Pérez (1989-1993)
314.333 housesRafael Caldera (1994-1998)
341.666 houses. Lowest historical oil prices. ($8)Hugo Chávez: (1998-2012)
230.144 housesBut surely you’re going to tell me “What about the Gran Mision Vivienda (”Great Household Mission”)” that has built over a million houses? Well, here’s the thing: the numbers (which come from the government) are not necessarily holding themselves together:
To quote this Runrunes article: Last November 13th, 800.000 houses had been built and given to the people. Barely 14 days later, 50.000 more.
The National Real Estate Guild notes the following: there are roughly 800.000 apartments/flats in the country, and 750.000 slum houses, to record. However, there is no auditing for the Great Household Mission: and their claim that, in one year they’ve built as many houses as there are apartments in all of Venezuela bears raising an eyebrow at the very least.
Also worth noting, you don’t get full property of those houses. You get a limited form of property (and to be fair, it is property) but for example, you cannot sell the house. If you are to move, you must inform the state, which will proceed to take the household unit and give it to someone else. There are also constant audits to check that the family living in the house is still there.
And we can also talk about the conditions of the houses– for a while. But you know what? I’ll throw you a bone: yes, the current Venezuelan state has built houses for the poor, (just as all past Venezuelan governments did). But it always comes down to this:
The anti-authoritarian in me bristles when witnessing those with whom I have marched in advocacy of social justice making excuses for autocrats. As members of the Left we have a responsibility to speak out against the abuses perpetrated by the Left in the name of social justice. Policy cannot absolve a government that is in breach of the Social Contract. The government of Venezuela, regardless of its policies, has lost its legitimacy.

My bara (has nothing to do with bara magna, has everything to do with bara tiddies, although i think he is not bara enough) Makuta Iprakh of Stelt, he really likes gladiatorial combat and was a champion of Stelt for ages, and no one knew since he shapeshifted and covered his mask. I am undecided with his Mask power still.
Those are wings, not spider legs, but they look like spider legs, I know.
He has stretch marks, because why not.
A safety tip: dicks like that you gotta worship, not ride.
